Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Mind & Movement Initiative’
A project to provide free mental health counseling and dance therapy sessions to underprivileged women, combining psychological support with expressive movement.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Relationship Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
- I’m using my passion for mental health and my skills as a counselor to work on a project – helping those less fortunate get the psychological support they need. My hope is that I can improve women’s health with the power of psychology and dance therapy. It’s all about spreading wellness and helping people discover their best selves..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
DECA – A CTSO focused on marketing, entrepreneurship, and leadership development, ideal for crafting and promoting innovative social projects.
FBLA – A CTSO centered on competitive business leadership that offers practical skills in project planning and communication, complementing advocacy efforts.
Competitions
This introductory competition fits as it helps the student build coding, problem-solving, and digital presentation skills which are essential for the Mind & Movement Initiative.
DECA – Marketing Communication Contest
This introductory competition builds business communication and marketing skills needed to promote the initiative. It is ideal for a primary CTSO competition.
This introductory competition teaches mechanical design and control systems which blend well with the movement aspect of the initiative. It reinforces hands-on technical and creative skills.
This advanced competition requires in-depth business planning, which is critical for scaling and sustaining the Mind & Movement Initiative. It offers real-world experience in strategic thinking.
Community Service:
Mindful Movement Community Workshop
Why it fits: This activity directly supports the initiative by engaging local youth in mindfulness and movement practices, reinforcing skills learned in competitions.
Implementation: Organize monthly workshops at a local community center in zip code 30075 during the Spring semester. Collaborate with local experts to facilitate sessions and provide practical demonstrations.
Skills Development: Event planning, leadership, communication, community engagement
